One of the most impressive MCs of a new generation talked her fans through the process of working with Marshall on “Unaccommodating” for his recent album “Music To Be Murdered By”.
During her first-ever Instagram Q&A, Young M.A answered the question about their collaboration and was happy to talk about it.
Oh man, that was a different vibe right there. I didn’t meet him in person. I did the record in the studio by myself, he sent me the record. I actually spoke to Eminem on the phone prior to doing the record. His team reached out to my team, my team told me and then we set up a call and I actually spoke to him on the phone. And Eminem was very humble – as I expected! I didn’t expect nothing more than that. I didn’t expect him to be such a big fan of what I’m doing. I was always a big fan of Eminem growing up. He is one of my top 5. So to hear him actually telling me I’m one of his favourite rappers just made me realise how much I’d been doing and how good I’d been doing. And just made me motivated. So I did the record, the record was fire. Though I did the record, I did the verse before I heard his verse. And I told myself, “Why would you go that crazy?!” He never had a verse on that first, he sent me a beat and I did my song just to see where it go and then he put his verse on that and then I heard the record. I did wanna change something because I heard his but he was like, “Nah, I love it” and I was like, “You know, it is what it is, I fuck with it”. You know, like first called – first served type shit. Hopefully, in the future we’ll be able to do more records. But I’m satisfied with the record, I love the record. Shout out to Em, man, I just appreciate him even write me on his album, that’s just the blessing in itself, just being a big fan of his. It’s just crazy.
