May is a busy month for Eminem fans, as we celebrate release dates of three of his albums back to back. After “Relapse” and “The Marshal Mathers LP” it is time to cheer for the 18th anniversary of Eminem’s fourth studio album “The Eminem Show”.

Released on May 26, 2002 to beat bootlegs appearing online, the album sold 284,000 copies in its first day – enough to top the Billboard 200 (that was the first time when an album was able to reach the top of the chart from a one-day sale). Its first-week sales of 1,322,000 while impressive enough did not beat Eminem’s own first-week record of 1.78 million copies of “The Marshal Mathers LP”. It became the best selling album of 2002, however, and by 2017 it has oversold MMLP by 5 million copies worldwide taking the title of the best-selling Eminem’s album to date.

“The Eminem Show” won Grammy for the Best Rap Album, won Best Album at the 2002 MTV Europe Music Awards, both Album of the Year and Top R&B/Hip Hop Album at the 2002 Billboard Music Awards, both Favourite Rap/Hip-Hop Album and Favourite Pop/Rock Album at the 2003 American Music Awards, Best International Album at the 2003 Brit Awards and International Album of the Year at the Juno Awards of 2003. It is certified Diamond in Australia, Canada and the US, multi-Platinum in the UK, France, Germany and Platinum in 16 other countries.
