Tech N9ne speaks on Eminem’s “Rap God,” wanting to see Kanye West live, making the Forbes’ Cash Kings List again, and sessions with Ross Robinson.
During a recent interview, Tech N9ne discusses “Rap God,” a single off Eminem’s forthcoming album, The Marshall Mathers LP 2, which is slated to be released November 5.
“Yes, I heard ‘Rap God,'” Tech N9ne says during an interview with nehip-hop.com. “Everybody want to know what I think. I think he’s rapping his ass off. That’s what I think. Somebody said it makes me want to hit the pad harder. I’m like, ‘I always hit the pad hard.’ But that [song], I was smiling, so it was a good thing. I listened to it twice.”
During the interview, Tech N9ne also addresses wanting to feature Eminem on his track “Fragile,” which appears on Tech N9ne’s most recent album, Something Else.
Tech N9ne Says He Hopes To Catch “Yeezus Tour”
“I sent ‘Fragile’ to [Eminem],” Tech N9ne says. “So it’s going to be something with lyrics and style. It’s going to be something, if it’s ever going to be. He’s able to do a lot of things, and I like to see what that sounds like, next to the King of Darkness.”
Tech N9ne then says he would love to see Kanye West on his “Yeezus Tour,” especially with Kendrick Lamar as the opening act. The “Yeezus Tour” launched in Seattle, Washington October 19.
“I would love to catch him,” Tech N9ne says. “I’m a big fan. Some of my fans hate to hear me say that, but I don’t give a damn. I’m a fan. I think he’s uber-talented. A lot of people just take his attitude and [say], ‘I don’t like him.’ But you gotta respect it. You gotta respect talent. Those beats and everything, just amazing, and I want it. I hope to God that I’m able to catch it ’cause my brethren is on that tour, Kendrick Lamar. [I’d] love to see that pop.”
Tech N9ne Reacts To Spot On Forbes Cash Kings List
In the interview, Tech N9ne also addresses how he feels regarding making the Forbes Cash Kings List for the second year in a row. This list compiles the world’s 20 highest paid Hip Hop artists.
“It’s crazy man, because we keep popping up on that list,” Tech N9ne says. “We’re staying afloat. It just solidifies that I really am Dracula…I’m the kind of dude that wins the lottery [and] I don’t want nobody to know. But the Forbes list, it’s a beautiful thing to see us still on the incline. I’ll say that. It’s a beautiful thing to see us on there because of music, ’cause that’s all I got. If I don’t do it hard, what am I doing it for, man?”
Tech N9ne Describes Therapy Recording Sessions
During the interview, Tech N9ne also speaks on Therapy sessions with Ross Robinson, an American multi-platinum music producer.
“Ross Robinson, he’s one hell of a therapist,” Tech N9ne says. “He had me do a song called ‘Burn Through.’ The way he talked to me then, ‘So what do you feel on this? If you talk about Kansas City, what does it taste like? What does it smell like?’ I’m like ‘Yeah, yeah.’ I never looked at it like that, ’cause I’m my own therapist, for all these years. The way I get it out is through song, so it won’t eat at me. But this guy, he’s a different type of therapist, a real therapist.”
Tech N9ne goes on to address his new project called K.A.B.O.S.H., which is a Rap/Rock album with Tech, Krizz Kaliko and Dirty Wormz.
“I’ve thought about that, actually having Ross have something to do with K.A.B.O.S.H.,” Tech N9ne says. “It might be a good idea, cause me and Krizz together man, it’s treacherous. He made it back for the first song on this album. I was able to get him on and I’m like ‘whew,’ cause he was on tour.”
