The short snippet of Eminem’s appearance on ESPN’s daily sports news program SportsCenter presented Marshall delivering some harsh words but was entirely stripped of any context.
In a 9-second long clip posted by a comedian and former MMA fighter Brendan Schaub Eminem says:
The best part about your opinion is that it doesn’t matter. And if every fighter that you had listened to your opinion when you doubted them – you wouldn’t have a fucking league.
Looks like these words were addressed to Dana White, an American businessman and the current President of the MMA league Ultimate Fighting Championship. And judging by a hashtag used by Brendan Schaub, the conversation on screen was focused on the fight between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier that is scheduled for tomorrow, January 23. There is no reason for any tension between Eminem and White, though. The latter even used Marshall’s new M2BMB track “Higher” in a TV promo for a fight.
It might be that Em was illustrating a point and did not aim at Dana personally, it might be, as some fans point out, that Marshall was frustrated with Dana’s politics or his attitude. However, Brendan’s short caption — “WTF”, indicates that the tension was there.
What exactly went down between Eminem, Dana White and a SportsCenter anchor Michael Eaves remains unknown and the search for a longer clip continues.
