“Space Bound” has officially reached Platinum status in the UK, marking 600,000 units sold by the “Recovery” single 13 years after its release.
It’s been a long journey for the “Recovery” song, released in 2011 as the fourth and final track from the album.
Produced by Jim Jonsin, “Space Bound” blends hip hop with alternative influences, sampling R.E.M.’s “Drive” and “Song for Bob” by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis. While it was not a massive chart-topper at the time, the song has had a steady and loyal fanbase over the years. Its highest chart position was No. 5 in Poland, and it reached No. 10 on the UK Hip Hop/R&B chart.
Now, the UK joins a select group of countries — including the US, Australia, Brazil, and New Zealand — where Space Bound has gone Platinum or higher. It is another reminder that Eminem’s music continues to earn recognition, even more than a decade after its release.
