For a celebrity to appear on Saturday Night Live is a recognition of their status. If they go there on their merits, of course, not just being mentioned as a joke of the day, like Cannon.

Eminem appeared on SNL seven times: in 1999 where he performed “Forgot About Dre” with Dr. Dre, for his second performance in 2000 he performed “Stan” (with Dido) and “The Real Slim Shady”, in 2002 he performed “Without Me”, in 2004 he delivered “Mosh” and “Just Lose It”, after a big break he took on SNL stage for the fifth time in 2010 with Lil Wayne where they performed “No Love” and “Won’t Back Down”, then the sixth time in 2013 promoting MMLP2, and his seventh appearance was in 2017, where he performed a medley of “Walk On Water”, “Stan” and “Love The Way You Lie” with Skylar Grey.

The recent mention of Nick Cannon on SNL though has nothing to do with his achievement, only with his notoriously badly going onesided beef with Eminem. The only point to mention him on-air at all was to laugh at him. Chris Redd appeared in the frame as a host of The Masked Singer and went right to the point

Happy holidays and welcome to the special edition of the Masked Singer. I’m Nick Cannon and if anyone knows how to beat Eminem in a feud please let me know!

SNL cast proceeded with their Eddie Murphy lead skit afterwards. Enough was said.
