Annual XXL Freshman Class list presents the most influential young rappers, arguably, but fails to represent the Detroit hip hop scene.
Royce da 5’9” pointed it out with disappointment on his Instagram account and promised that it will certainly affect chances to get him in for an interview next time. Royce wrote:
Next time y’all ask me to do a interview, Ima go missing like Detroit is from this blasphemous freshman cover @xxl … Still love y’all tho 🙄
Royce did not specify who exactly he thought was missing from the list but Tee Grizzley, 42 Dugg or Icewear Vezzo are just some of the names that make impressions way outside of their native Detroit.
