Eminem scored two new Silver certifications in the UK for two very different tracks.
“Legacy”, the deep and reflective song from “The Marshall Mathers LP 2”, takes us through Eminem’s rough-and-tumble childhood, giving fans another dose of the raw honesty that made him a legend.
Produced by Emile Haynie and featuring additional vocals from Russian singer-songwriter Polina, “Legacy” hit the right notes with critics when it dropped back in 2013. Fans and critics alike were drawn to its powerful lyrics and haunting production.
It peaked at number 44 on the US Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and is still making waves years later, now shining with its new Silver certification.
Meanwhile, “Renegade” is a fearless collaboration between Jay-Z and Marshall, a textbook example of a verse battle between two giants. It is brought up in hip hop conversations so often and is known so well, so it is difficult to believe that it sold just as much in the UK as Em’s intimate track released 12 years later.
