Marshall’s new music video is even more personal than the previous “Somebody Save Me”. But it is also full of light and hope.

In “Temporary”, a letter to his daughter Hailie where Marshall speaks of his mortality and strong family ties holding him together, Em again uses his home video archive extensively. However, this time, we can also see more recent footage, including scenes from Hailie’s wedding and even the day Hailie told Em that she was expecting a child. Marshall, sobbing in his daughter’s bridal room or holding a jersey with “GRANDPA 1” print, – is a sight to behold.

While many might find the song itself dark and difficult because of the topics it touches, the music video changes the tone, showing the continuation of life and love within Marshall’s tightly-knit circle.

These new visuals show that Em is just as open and raw in his vulnerability as he was in his rage and anger. Whether you are a fan who has been with Shady on his long and bumpy road for a long time or you are just discovering Eminem’s music, this honesty strikes a chord.
