Today MTV announces winners of VMAs 2020 and Eminem is nominated in two categories.
The official MTV account shared the video from 2002 where Eminem talks about his aspirations to become one of the greatest MCs.
He told MTV News:
Do I think I’ll be placed amongst the greatest MCs? I don’t know but that’s what I strive for. My goal was never to be the best, bit to be the best that I could be, be all I can be and be placed amongst the greatests. I don’t feel like there was ever the greatest MC. Like, for each time period, I feel like there is, but overall, I don’t think it’s fair to say that there’s a greatest MC, but I definitely wanna be placed in that category as one of the best. Yeah, it does matter to me.

Where is all this attention coming from? Is VMAs planning something? A surprise performance from Eminem? Or maybe a long delayed Vanguard Award for him?
