In 68 years of the British charts, there was only a handful of people who managed to debut at No.1 several times in their career.
Usually, a song climbs up the charts instead of appearing at the top from nowhere. However, there some exceptions in chart history.
Boys band, apparently, know the recipe for an overnight success better than anyone else. The 1990s sensations Take That and Westlife are the only acts that have 10 or more No.1 UK chart debuts. Following them closely are Oasis and Spice Girls – both with 8 chart-toppers. Eminem also has 8 top UK debuts – but he managed to do it single-handedly.
Em is the only hip hop act in the top half of this list.
Marshall landed eight songs at the very top of the British charts on the debut week, and he did it in every of three decades he has been carting in Britain:
“The Real Slim Shady” (2000), “Stan” (2000), “Without Me” (2002), “Lose Yourself” (2002), “Just Lose It” (2004), “Like Toy Soldiers” (2005), “The Monster” feat. Rihanna (2013), “Godzilla” feat. Juice WRLD (2020).
