There were more than 50 arrests at Eminem’s massive gig at Slane Castle in Ireland on Saturday night (August 17).
A total of 22 people were arrested for public order offences, the Press Association reports, while a further 35 were arrested for minor drug offences. In addition, there were five reported assaults and another gig-goer was detained for driving while under the influence.
However, superintendent Michael Devine insisted that the lion’s share of the 80,000-strong crowd caused no trouble whatsoever for the 500 local stewards and 750 Garda (police) officers on duty. “The vast majority of fans heeded the advice given in advance of the event which ensured everyone had a safe and enjoyable experience,” Devine said.
After opening with new track ‘Survival’, which he unveiled last week (August 14), Eminem rattled through 28 tracks during his Slane Castle set, performing hits spanning his entire career including ‘My Name Is’, ‘Love The Way You Lie’, ‘Without Me’, ‘The Real Slim Shady’ and ‘Stan’ before ending with ‘Lose Yourself’.
Eminem is set to play another huge gig at Glasgow’s Bellahouston Park tomorrow night (August 20) before his headline sets at Reading And Leeds Festivals on August 24 and 25.
