Eminem has updated “The Marshall Mathers LP” streaming and vinyl for its 25th anniversary, but some things fans did not get.
For the 25th anniversary of “The Marshall Mathers LP”, Eminem has dropped a special new edition featuring the album on coloured vinyl for the first time. The MMLP25 vinyl also includes revamped packaging, an exclusive poster, and two live tracks from Em’s 2000 VMAs performance: “The Real Slim Shady” and “The Way I Am”.
While many fans appreciate the nostalgia and design details, some have voiced frustration. What they were really hoping for was unreleased material — demos, outtakes, lost verses that could not fit on other albums because they were so rooted in the era, or instrumentals at least. That did not come this time.
Still, the anniversary edition is now available on streaming platforms and is already changing the game. The collection hit No.1 on the iTunes Top 40 Hip Hop Albums chart in both the US and UK and also made it onto the general Top Albums chart — No.56 in the US and No.48 in the UK. It’s a solid start, even if some listeners are still holding out for more from the vault.
