More than a decade after its release, “The Marshall Mathers LP2” has reclaimed a higher spot in Eminem’s Spotify rankings.
As of January 2026, the MMLP2 sits at No.4 among his most-streamed studio albums, overtaking 2020’s “Music To Be Murdered By”.
Time, it seems, is the great equaliser.
Streaming Wars Between Eras
When MTBMB arrived in 2020, it confidently stepped into the digital age. Streaming was already dominant, and fans jumped in immediately, giving it a fast start.
By contrast, MMLP2, released in 2013, came out when streaming was reshaping how we measure success. Still, it built steadily over time, and now it’s showing its staying power. Again.
Back in 2020, after “Music To Be Murdered By” came out, MMLP2 was Eminem’s most-streamed album. But it was soon passed by “The Eminem Show”, which now leads with 9.2 billion streams.
Quick Math
Initially, MTBMB benefited from the attention of being a surprise drop. It opened strong and continued pulling big numbers for years. Even in June 2022, MTBMB was pulling nearly double the daily streams of “The Marshall Mathers LP2”. That momentum eventually slowed.
Over the years, daily plays have gradually shifted. As of January 3, 2026, MMLP2 collected 1,070,256 daily streams. On the same day, MTBMB earned 779,997. Clearly, is is easy to notice the gap.
The trend has been steady and is unlikely to reverse anytime soon. With Eminem’s “The Death of Slim Shady” taking the mantle of the newest release, “Music To Be Murdered By” has moved deeper in Em’s catalogue. Clearly, older albums have had to compete on replay value alone.
And MMLP2 appears to have the edge.
Eminem’s Top 5 Albums on Spotify (January 3, 2026)

2. The Marshall Mathers LP – 5,734,229,709
3. Recovery – 5,555,105,485

5. Music To Be Murdered By – 4,494,112,788
Legacy in Motion
The journey of MMLP2 reflects how long-term appeal can outlast fast starts. Ten years on, the album is still reaching new heights. With MTBMB no longer in the Top 4, fans are watching closely to see what climbs or falls next.
