A rising UK drill star previewed a track no one expected: a collaboration with Eminem himself.

Mazza L20, one of Liverpool’s fastest-rising voices, shared a short snippet of what appears to be an unreleased collaboration with Eminem.

The move comes after a year of unexpected twists in Mazza’s story, a story that already reads like a movie.

Mazza’s Backstory: From Prison Bars to Chart Success

Mazza L20’s rise makes more sense when you understand where he came from. His trajectory is rare even in drill music, a genre already rooted in harsh realities.
He grew up in Bootle, a tough area in Merseyside. Trouble followed him early, and by 2015, a criminal case changed his life forever.

Back then, detectives found footage on his phone that showed him test-firing a pistol. The same gun was later used in a murder. There was no evidence he was involved in the killing, but he faced charges for firearm and ammunition offences. He eventually pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm, possession of bullets, and two counts of wounding with intent.
The court sentenced him to 11 years in prison.

While inside, he secretly recorded verses on a phone, which was illegal. These songs found massive success on TikTok and YouTube. His voice, the brutal honesty with which he was describing the reality of his life, and the frustration he poured into every bar drew people in. His “jail freestyles” quickly went viral. The drill scene took notice. And then radio hosts and media outlets took notice, too.

A New Page

By the time he left prison in May 2024, Mazza wasn’t starting a rap career, he already had one. He had built a fanbase from a cell. He had charted in the UK Top 20 for 10 weeks with his Concrete Jungle mixtape, despite having no freedom and no budget. And that success came while he was still behind bars.

After his release in May 2024, Mazza stayed prolific. He dropped five projects and continued telling the story of his time inside and his work towards the future. His tracks still pull millions of streams. Meanwhile, his Fire in the Booth appearance passed 7 million views in one year, outperforming freestyles from stars like Griselda, Lil Baby and Megan Thee Stallion.

Eminem’s Co-sign

About a year ago, Mazza received a message from the other side of the Atlantic. However, the message wasn’t vague. It was personal, supportive, and unmistakably authentic:

“Yo wa up bruh I came across your journey an just wanna say it’s incredible don’t let this crazy ass industry distract you stay focused dude I’ll be in the uk soon let’s link up”.

Mazza later explained on the Anything Goes With James English podcast that he rarely checks Instagram DMs anymore because they are full of fan mail. So his girlfriend spotted the message first and showed it to him.
He didn’t believe it was real until he tapped the sender’s name and saw the blue-check Eminem profile.

For Mazza, the moment was unreal: “I grew up listening to Eminem! The music from back then is still relevant now. It’s timeless”.

Even Ed Sheeran recently shouted Mazza out, praising his jail-recorded mixtapes. And within the UK drill scene, there are already rumours that Shady Records may be eyeing Mazza for a deal.

What Is Next?

During a livestream with collaborator Ed Mathews, Mazza quietly played a brief snippet of what he claims is their joint track. Fans immediately recognised Eminem’s voice, tone, and cadence.

And because Mazza has built a reputation as a straight-talker, no one believes he would fabricate something like this.

If genuine, and all signs point that way, Eminem collaborating with a UK drill newcomer is one of the most unexpected moves of the year.

Eminem loves surprising his audience. Mazza is rising fast. And this snippet suggests a partnership no one saw coming.

If the full song exists, the reveal will be huge.
