Matthew Stafford, who started his career with the Detroit Lions, comes back to the Motor City to play against them, and Eminem has a word for him.

Marshall is a die-hard Lions fan. He follows their games religiously, and this season is the first in years to bring him and other Detroit football heads joy and hope. The team has been doing well so far and has reached the point that had been out of sight for years. The Detroit Lions are back in the postseason for the first time in seven years, hosting their first playoff game in 30 years this weekend.

So Eminem decided to do whatever he could, to pull all favours possible to help his team. He recorded a message for a player of an opposing team. However, Stafford is no stranger to Lions fans. He spent 12 seasons with the Lions, making the playoffs on three occasions but failing to win any of those games. The Lions traded him to the Rams three years ago. And now he’s back, wearing a Ram’s jersey.

In a post shared by the Sunday Night Football on NBC account, the rapper pleads with Stafford to let the Lions win their first-round game against the quarterback’s Los Angeles Rams.

Stafford. What’d I say? You owe me this favour, bro. I was there for you when you won it. I was there for you. I was right there. I rapped for you, Stafford. Bro, I rapped for you. Can you just let us have this one? Just this one.

Here, Eminem refers to his performance during halftime of Super Bowl LVI, when Stafford and the Rams won it all. It is unlikely that Marshall’s plea will move Stafford, but this message will certainly lift the Lions’ spirit. The game kicks off today, on Sunday, January 14, at 8 pm ET on Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan.
