Ye briefly shared his take on hip hop royalty, listing Eminem among hip hop elite – before wiping the post from his timeline.

Kanye West has a habit of tweeting and deleting, and today was no exception. This time, he shared his personal list of 12 rap kings — a list that, unsurprisingly, included himself. Eminem also made the cut alongside names like Jay-Z, Nas, and Tupac.

The tweet reads:

THERE ARE 12 RAP KINGS

WAYNE
ME
JAY
DRAKE
BIGGIE
PAC
EM
LL
RUN DMC
NAS
RAKIM

am I missing any?

It did not even last an hour before disappearing from his page, but the debate it sparked continues. Fans and critics weighed in on the list, pointing out missing names and questioning some of Ye’s choices.

In a follow-up post, Kanye addressed Andre 3000’s absence, only to veer off into a dig at Kendrick Lamar:

KENDRICK AND 3 STACKS KIND OF IN A SIMILAR PLACE WHERE THEY’LL OUTRAP YO ASS TO DEATH EXCEPT I CAN ACTUALLY NAME AN ANDRE 3000 SONG I LIKE BUT NEITHER WAS EVER KING

The initial post, though, like the rest of his feed, vanished after one of Ye’s routine tweet purges. The ranking itself might not have been controversial, but the timing was odd. The tweet appeared among a series of erratic posts, including serious accusations against his ex-wife — posts that also disappeared soon after.

Whether the list was meant to stir conversation or just another Ye’s fleeting thought, he made people talk about himself again.
