Detroit veteran Hush recently shared his all-time favourite Biggie track — and the reason he picked it comes down to one unforgettable Eminem verse.

Hush has been around the scene long enough to speak on hip hop history with authority. From early success with Da Ruckus alongside Uncle Ill to charting solo hits like “Hush is Coming” (both with Eminem in the mix), he has earned his stripes and nine Detroit Music Awards along the way.

And when he appeared on the Roger That podcast and was asked to name his favourite Notorious B.I.G. song, he did not hesitate. The answer: “Dead Wrong”. Why? Eminem.

“That verse by Eminem?! Oof, that’s a monster!” Hush said, launching into Em’s sharp bars from the 1999 posthumous Biggie track.

Released after Biggie’s death, “Dead Wrong” tackled some of the darkest themes in rap — a perfect fit for Eminem, who addressed his involvement in the track in his 2008 memoir The Way I Am:

“I rapped on a remix of The Notorious B.I.G. song ‘Dead Wrong’. I remember writing this, literally, in 10 minutes. What Biggie was saying was so up my alley, and the beat was just so crazy”.

Even today, that verse still hits, and connoisseurs like Hush have not forgotten.
