“Houdini” made its way to the top of the chart with 104,800 units moved this week (including 13.3 million streams). It is the best selling week for a single in the UK, not just from the beginning of 2024, but it is the best one in precisely a full year since Dave and Central Cee’s “Sprinter” debut. And even more importantly, it is the biggest opening week of his career since “Without Me” in 2002.
By the way, “Without Me” is back on the chart for the first time in 22 years.
The remarkable success of “Houdini” marks Eminem’s first solo No.1 single in the UK in 19 years. The last time he achieved this feat was with “Like Toy Soldiers” in 2005.
With “Houdini”, Eminem ties Calvin Harris for the most No.1 singles on the Official Singles Chart – both with an impressive 11 chart-toppers.
By the way, the “Houdini” music video breaks another record, grabbing the biggest opening week in the UK for video streams since Adele’s “Easy On Me” in 2021. “Houdini”, with 4 million views, didn’t beat the 4.58 million that Adele gained back then, but it is the one that came closest to her result in three years.
