Flavor Flav didn’t hesitate when asked to name the best battle rapper of all time—and he had the T-shirt with Eminem’s face to prove it.

The Public Enemy legend pulled up to the Mohr Stories podcast in full Slim Shady gear and wasted no time giving Eminem his flowers.

When asked to name his personal battle rap Mount Rushmore, Flav pointed directly to his shirt, which featured Slim Shady’s face. “The best battle rapper to me right now, to this day, and he’s my favourite, is this guy that I’m wearing here on my shirt. Eminem. Can’t nobody fuck with Eminem”, the veteran declared. “Anybody that ever battled Em, Em took ’em out. I never heard anybody take Eminem out yet, to this day”.

Jay Mohr tried to push him further, bringing up a hypothetical battle between Eminem and KRS-One. But Flav wouldn’t pick sides: “They’re both my favourites. I don’t have favouritism between KRS-One and Eminem. Because they’re both the GOATs, they’re both the best. And nobody’s ever took them out”.

That’s a stance Eminem himself would likely respect. He has always expressed deep admiration for KRS-One as one of his foundational influences in hip hop, so hearing his name brought up in the same breath would not just be no surprise, it would probably be an honour.

The conversation also touched on Flav’s rise with Public Enemy, the origin of his iconic clock necklace, and his VH1 reality TV days, but it was his heartfelt tribute to Eminem that stood out loudest.
