Eminem and Royce 5'9

Marshall has restructured his charity organisation to focus on fighting injustice and called his fellow Detroit collaborator to lead this fight.

It was reported yesterday that Royce joined the board of Marshall Mathers Foundation as Director of Community Engagement and Social Justice Initiatives. It was mentioned in a new statement published on Eminem’s official website that this role was created just recently.

It seems like the wave of civil protests that enveloped the US since the murder of George Floyd last month encouraged Marshall to step up and not only regroup his organisation to pay more attention to community initiatives but also to invite a friend and Black artist to be at the helm of this new direction.

The statement reads:

ROYCE DA 5’9″ JOINS THE MARSHALL MATHERS FOUNDATION AS DIRECTOR OF COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AND SOCIAL JUSTICE INITIATIVES

NEWLY-CREATED ROLE BROADENS IMPACT AND REACH OF FOUNDATION AND ENABLES DIRECT OVERVIEW AND ALLOCATION OF RESOURCES TO ENGAGE IN DIRECT ACTION TO FIGHT INJUSTICE

Eminem announced today that Ryan “Royce da 5’9” Montgomery would be joining the board of the Marshall Mathers Foundation as Director of Community Engagement and Social Justice Initiatives. The role expands the overall mission of the Foundation with an emphasis on combating social injustice and helping to affect change.

In a joint statement, Eminem and Royce remarked: “It’s a question everybody should be asking themselves right now, ‘How can I do more?’ We both recognize that by working together to expand the Marshall Mathers Foundation’s mission, we CAN do more. And we can do it quickly, effectively, and with real impact.”

The Marshall Mathers Foundation is a charitable organization dedicated to disadvantaged and at-risk youth in Detroit, Michigan and it’s surrounding communities. Our mission has expanded to stand as an ally in the fight against social injustice and for racial equality nationwide.
