For the first time in a long time, Marshall decided not to wear a T-shirt with a classic hip hop print for his public appearance.
The things were different in Detroit last night, when Eminem in an unexpected move joined Ed Sheeran on stage to perform “Lose Yourself” together. Instead, he chose to promote the most recent release of his latest protege, Shady Records artist from Atlanta GRIP.
Em’s black tee showcased the cover of “STILL (5 & A F*** YOU) [DELUXE]”, GRIP’s project that follows up his previous mixtape “5 & A F*** YOU” with 11 new songs recorded without a single feature and with GRIP’s signature controlled intensity.
Usually, Em used his public appearances to draw the public attention to hip hop pioneers who are now getting pushed to the background by the multitude of new artists, and tries to educate the younger audience on the history of hip hop. Now, Marshall turned his power over the audience to promote a talented artist in whose skills and destiny he believes.
GRIP, titled The Atlanta best storyteller even before his Shady Records debut “IDFT!?”, carried around the message Eminem sent from the giant stage:
You heard the man. Go bump #STILL
