D12 Premiered New Proof’s Verse 20 Years After His Passing

On April 11, the hip hop world honoured the memory of Proof on the 20th anniversary of his passing. D12 extended their homage further, sharing a snippet of a song from their upcoming album. The song that Proof recorded years ago.

First hint

The album got the name D12 Forever and a release date in June. Swifty McVay and Kuniva are essentially D12 now, as no other names from the classic line-up are getting any mention. They have already announced that the first single will feature two longtime associates, Xzibit and B-Real.

Teasing the single, Swifty and Kuniva posted a skit where Kuniva’s character Rondell Beene hinted at some “unreleased Proof’s music”. It certainly implied the possibility of it being released, but they did not promise anything certain, hiding behind the joke.

First glimpse

And now, on the day when Eminem posted a letter to his late friend, D12 shouted to Proof and made the promise fans have been waiting for. On the band’s socials, they posted a song snippet with a message:

New music from Proof will shine on the D12 Forever album, set to release in June. As we remember him today, his voice resonates powerfully within the D12 legacy. Proof’s spirit, his words, and his impact will remain eternal. Forever Big Proof. Forever D12.

New era

The production sounds both more modern and familiar. However, it should not surprise fans who know that Jake Bass, the Bass Brothers’ heir, is handling the production. Jake posts photos with the D12 members from the studio; he joined the tour in 2023when Proof’s son was perfroming with them, and his fingerprints are all over the D12’s new stuff.

There is still no information on the tracklist, guests’ names, cover art, or a release date. Meanwhile, the dates for the D12 UK tour are already out. As well as the names of the artists who go on this tour with them. It is a joint project between D12, Treach from Naughty By Nature, and ONYX. They are going to be touring the UK in June, just when the album has to drop.
