American singer and actress Coco Jones inherited love for hip hop from her father, who educated his children on the culture. No wonder the first verse she memorized was written by Eminem.

Coco Jones moved from being a teen Disney star to signing to Def Jam records and landing her sing at No. 21 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay char. So she’s not a random guest on HOT97’s 2 “My First” series where the radio station celebrates 50 years of hip hop by exploring celebrities’ relationship with the biggest culture in the world.

So, Coco Jones got introduced to hip hop by her father on the way to school, was influenced by Tupac, who was telling his uncomfortable truth, and learned the Eminem verse on “Forever” by heart:

The first song that I memorized was “Forever” by Drake. I think I memorized the Eminem verse.

“He ain’t had him a buzz like this
Since the last time that he overdosed
They been waitin’ patiently for Pinocchio to poke his nose
Back into the game and they know
Rap will never be the same as befo’
Bashin’ in the brains of these hoes
And establishin’ a name as he goes”

That’s all I remember!
