Looking back on his career, Cam’ron has a couple of “what if” moments, especially when it comes to collaborations. But was it ever an option?

Speaking on his YouTube series Talk With Flee, the Harlem rapper was asked which artists he wished he had worked with. Without hesitation, he named Em, saying he thought they could have made something great together — at least, in theory.

Cam’ron shared that he saw a golden opportunity in the early 2000s that never happened.

There was a time, probably when we first came out in the late ’90s, early 00s, I wanted to work with Eminem when his career was taking off and my career with Dipset was taking off. I wanted to do a record with Eminem because he’s super-duper lyrical. I can be super-duper lyrical. I dumb a lot of my shit down for my audience, but I thought that would have been a sensational record.

He added:

The other person would be Nas. That would be the other artist I would have loved to work with at one time.

It’s an interesting thought, but some might question whether Cam’ron’s name carried the same weight as Eminem or Nas in terms of lyrical legacy. He has had a solid career with Dipset and a dedicated fanbase, but standing alongside two of hip hop’s most respected wordsmiths might require a different level of lyricism. Not just super-duper.

And while a track with Eminem never happened, Cam and Em might at least share some screen time. Adam Sandler invited Eminem for a cameo in “Happy Gilmore 2”, and Cam’s recent Instagram post hints at his own part in the project. Sharing a photo with his Talk With Flee crew, he wrote: “Put the whole team in da movie. #HappyGilmore2.”
