This May Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will add another rapper to its books. The Notorious B.I.G. is announced as the latest MC to be honoured alongside with other nominees of 2020: Whitney Houston, Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails, 1970s soft-rock band The Doobie Brothers and 1960s English rock band T-Rex.

There are not many rappers in the Hall, as to be expected. The list consists of Tupac Shakur, N.W.A, Public Enemy, The Beastie Boys, Run-DMC and Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five.

To be eligible to induction an artist has to meet the 25-year minimum release date requirement. Biggy’s classic 1994 album “Ready to Die” made his nomination possible.

Next year debut Eminem’s LP “Infinite” released in November 1996 will technically allow Eminem to be nominated. Will Marshall be the next rapper introduced to Rock And Roll Hall of Fame or will we wait until 2024?
