Marshall’s nominations include: Best Hip-Hop (“Berzerk”) and two for “The Monster” with Rihanna (Best Male and Best Collaboration), while Iggy makes her VMA splash thanks to her mega-hit “Fancy,” which will vie for Video of the Year, Best Female and Best Pop.
Baby Blue Ivy might have a lot more shiny playthings once the dust settles after the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards. That’s because mommy Beyoncé leads this year’s field with a total of eight nominations, including Video of the Year, Best Female and Best Collaboration for several tracks from her surprise self-titled album.
Depending on what kind of nights they have, both Bey (12 total career wins) and Em (11 career wins) could easily make a run for #2 on the all-time list of VMA wins, sliding by Peter Gabriel and Lady Gaga (13) on the way to Madonna mountain (20 career wins).
In the list announced Thursday morning (July 17) via SnapChat, VMA veteran Eminem and newbie Iggy Azalea were just behind Queen Bey, with seven nods apiece.
Also receiving multiple nominations were Jay Z, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Pharrell Williams, Ariana Grande, Lorde, Sam Smith, Zedd, Avicii, Pitbull, Jason Derulo and Hayley Williams.
