Marshall’s heartfelt track “Beautiful” has reached a new milestone, receiving Platinum certification in the UK this week.
“Beautiful”, a deeply personal song from Eminem’s sixth studio album “Relapse”, has been officially certified Platinum in the UK by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) for selling 600,000 units in the country.
Released as the fifth and final single from “Relapse” on August 11, 2009, “Beautiful” stands out for its raw emotion and history. The song samples “Reaching Out”, originally recorded by the British rock band Rock Therapy and later performed by Queen + Paul Rodgers during their 2005–2006 tour, where Eminem’s “Lose Yourself” served as the house music.
The track holds special significance in Eminem’s career, as it was partially written during his first stint in rehab in 2005. Years later, after getting clean, Eminem completed the song by adding a third verse, making it a testament to his personal struggles and triumphs.
“Beautiful” received a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Solo Performance at the 52nd Grammy Awards but ultimately lost to Jay-Z’s “D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune)”. Despite this, the song achieved commercial success worldwide, with multi-platinum certifications in the US (3× Platinum) and Australia (3× Platinum), among others.
With its Platinum status in the UK, “Beautiful” adds a new milestone to its record, showcasing the power of vulnerability in music.
