The Revival song where Eminem first contemplated putting an end to Slim Shady has become his 118th track to reach the 100 million-stream milestone.
“In Your Head” stands out on the album for at least two reasons: it samples Dolores O’Riordan’s powerful vocals from “Zombie,” and it talks about regretting Slim Shady’s overpowering influence and the pull to finally escape it. He says that Shady’s voice in his head drives him crazy and draws a parallel with a zombie. It is a strong, unsettling metaphor.
A month after the song was released, Dolores O’Riordan passed away. Six years after that, Eminem released The Death of Slim Shady.
And “In Your Head”, the fourth most streamed song from Revival, has crossed its first major Spotify milestone.
