Talk around Verzuz has picked up again recently. Along with that, sspeculation has returned over whether Eminem would ever take part.
And while even at the peak of Verzuz’s COVID-era popularity it looked very unlikely, some fans still harbour hope. Recently, on the Effective Immediately episode, DJ Hed explained why he does not think it will ever happen.
In order for Eminem to do Verzuz, it would have to make sense for Eminem’s timeline and what he’s got going on. Kind of like what Jay-Z got going on. Like, Jay-Z is in full-on Super Bowl rollout, in my humble opinion.
If Eminem was going to do the 30th anniversary, the Marshall Mathers LP, and it was leading up to this big show at the Detroit Lions football stadium, I think we might get something to lead up to that, maybe. But other than that, Em doesn’t give a fuck.
Basically, this last sentence explains everything. Marshall has nothing left to prove by playing his diamond-certified records. He still cares about his skill and his pen, but he does not seem especially interested in turning his older achievements into nostalgia events. Even his classic albums’ anniversaries come and go without much fuss from his camp, rarely inspiring more than a merch capsule.
