Dr. Dre does not give interview often but Lil Wayne is the person who can link up with every single legend in the game. His interview with Dre took a turn from discussing a joy that music brings to expressing built-up anger against racism.
Dre did not expect the question about George Floyd’s death but he was thinking about it and was unsure about doing this interview whatsoever in these circumstances. The brutality of this attack affected him, admitted Dre:
It’s like, man, that situation, it hurt my heart. My heart is still aching. And it felt like that cop had his knee on all of our necks, meaning black men.
Dre does not think that arresting one officer can bring justice to George Floyd. All four policemen involved should be held accountable, he insists:
The other three cops are supposed to be arrested and convicted of first-degree murder. Point-blank period, no ifs, no buts about it. And the fucked-up part is, they’re so brazen with it, broad daylight, with cameras on, and he’s got his knee on this guy’s neck for that amount of time and he doesn’t give a fuck. His hand is in his pocket, he may as well have been whistling.
But it seems like Dre, as well as millions across the country, cannot take it anymore and he asks:
What the fuck are we supposed to do to make these things stop? What can happen to make this stop? This shit is baffling, but it really feels like something is going to happen now, to at least put us in the area where we can start talking about a way to make this thing stop. I think this one could be the one because I’m seeing white people out there protesting as well, which is a good thing. They should be. You said it right. Any decent human being should see that and go, “Fuck this. Enough is enough”.
