The interview Jim Carrey did for British morning television suddenly brought some insights into his relationship with Marshall.
Talking about how his characters influenced people of different ages in all walks of life he recalled one of the most striking examples:
Eminem said I was responsible for his diamond album, that I wrote it and I was like, “Come on, please!” And then I looked at the cover of the album, it’s basically the poster for “Man on the Moon”, a revised version of it with the red curtain and everything. I was just blown away by that.
Mr Carrey might not be too precise with his hip-hop history here but it is clear that he can appreciate the threads that bind culture together across genres and mediums – as long as it was done by a master.
